EUSci Science Fiction Short Story Competition-

SCOPE

What does the future hold for Edinburgh?

  • Implants instead of Lectures?
  • Hover-trams on Princes Street?
  • Martians in the McEwan Hall?

EUSci wants to read your Edinburgh related science fiction stories.

The Edinburgh connection can be integral or tenuous, but strength of connection will be one of the judging criteria.

LENGTH

Target length is 1300 to 1500 words. (This supersedes the previously advertised limit of 1400 words.)

DEADLINE

5pm on 1st Feb 2010.

JUDGING

We are fortunate to have award winning Edinburgh-based science fiction author Ken MacLeod as our guest judge (author of the Fall Revolution Series and Engine of Light Trilogy).

Entries will be screened initially by a panel of EUSci members. Judging criteria will include originality, writing quality, scientific plausibility and Edinburgh relatedness.

ELIGIBILITY

Entrants can be from anywhere in the world and do not need a personal Edinburgh connection.

Pieces written for another purpose or competition will be considered. However, please do not submit a story already published elsewhere (print or online).

PRIZES

The winning entry will be published in Issue 6 of EUSci and receive a £50 Blackwell’s Gift Card.

Runners up will be published online at www.eusci.org.
